Yes started demo in Dec. Just this past weekend we finished ripping out the floor. This weekend I will remove the panels under the windows and then wire grind the rust, clean and prep for paint inside.

If you are in the Ghent area I'll show you the progress and maybe we can have a chat about ideas and layouts.

Hey! Have you started on your conversion? Looks like we have almost the same bus.

I'm located in VB and work in Norfolk.

    Hey Joe Black,

Thank you for the reply. I was very impressed with the Freightliner condition, absoluley minimal rust, turns right over, tires looked very good for their age. At 2300$ I think I paid a bit much but I am happy with the bus. I am looking into a diagnostic computer for future use. What do you think would that be a good idea?

I am sure your skoolie has a DPF included, has the passive regen been sufficient? Have you had to force regen? I am not unfamilure with DE's because I have had to work with them in the navy but this is my first bus. I just want to be as proficient with the inner working as possible.

Well thank you for the honest info, hope to catch up about more topics later. If you are ever in the VA area with your skoolie, send a message I would really like to see the finished product.

    Hi Doxie,

We bought the bus with 410000 miles on it. No smoke or leaks from the engine or tranny .
In the beginning we had a hard start issue that I traced to fuel pump that lost its prime. A new fuel pump was $300.. No on eBay for $150. I choose to use an electric fuel pump instead. After that no problems with the engine anymore.
Ours does not have the egr system as being a 2004 with a 2003 engine.
On our last 9300 mile trip we averages 9 mpg with towing a jeep Cherokee. Would have liked that to be higher. Think that is caused by the hydraulic cooling in that is in the re city bus.
Replaced oil and filters ...all low prices if you look around a little. We replaced the starter motor because of slipping over ride clutch. $220 I believe.
I like the engine.. It is quiet.. Pretty modern.. Has individual injectors / pumps that are easy to replace.
    Used prices are good..
I would buy it again if I needed a bus or truck.

    Johan
