I have an 86 skoolie
The biggest question I have is for the mechanic's? I have an 8.2 Detroit that run's great (200,000 and has only moved 100 miles since bought from the state but I can only do 49? The older man at the barn told me even if I adjust the governor's my rear end would burn up? I agreee after looking at the gearing. I have an Allison
transmission and a eaton rear end I do have those number's just not in front of me. I can't get any advice from the high dollar mechanic's to change the rear gear's for me and none will come do it in my drive way? They only want the hog head handed to them in a shop. I have a gravel drive so if I get it up to pull the rear end I could change the gear's in place.
I wanted the security of a garage.I guess I am just looking for advice on what gear ratio to change to? I would love to do at least 65 and I don't see why an 8.2 can't do it but I do question if I need to add a cooler on the AT-5 ? Thank's for any advice
