On a whim I submitted a sealed bid

now I own a 91 Thomas. Not really sure what I've got myself into or even what I've actually purchased. Didn't think my bid would take it. But I'm digging into the seat removal threads to gather ideas for tools, so I'm ready when I bring her home!

You are not alone... Don't let the mechanics scare you I'm an experienced diesel mechanic in Chicago not too far... Cummins great engine! Just take it slowly, where ya gonna keep it? How ya gonna insure it ...

I live on 40 acres in a twp without a lot of hassles regarding vehicles. Didn't really think out the insurance part, but I've started reading about the progress I need to have made to get the bus ready for a RV changeover.

So what do you actually have into it?

Winning bid

$801.00 was the winning bid.

If it's in good mechanical shape, I think you got the deal of the century!
What I would call scrap goes for $1400 around here :(

One of the drivers told me they just got rid of it because it couldn't pass the State Police inspection. Mechanically good but with some body issues. I figured I could scrap it if all else failed.

Yeah, not really sure what happened there. The whole front end is discolored that way. Haven't had a chance to look at anything closely yet. I'll find out soon though, have to get it out of the yard this week.

That's the clear coat pealing off. Mine did that too.

Fiberglass hood VS the steel body.

Paint breaks down at different rates.

What a deal...no wonder you were surprised to have won it.

Check it out real good before you start to put to much time & effort into it. Especially since it failed inspection. What failed.

Can't wait to follow your build.
