This is a VERY proprietary part. Not generic. Its custom molded.

Hate it when that happens I wish more manufacturers would use standard parts and pieces. It sounds like you found a better solution anyhow. My bus door is air actuated so there is a "cool" factor but it will get replaced regardless I'm already tired of messing with a bus door again.

My service door is air actuated.
We're talking about the wheel chair door here.

What about taking 2 different profiles and gluing them together to get the desired seal?

I'm not going to mess with it anymore. THe WC door is rusty anyhow, so paneling over it and installing an RV door is a no-brainer at this point.

Amazingly suck!!! Needs to be at least 74" least I'll scalp myself. That's about the perfect height to get thru most days. But that one day when not thinking about it or distracted...

Fixed the door!

Starting to get excited about the shorty again. We had it listed on CL but the more I work on it the more I'm convinced that I either need to charge more money for it or quit trying to sell it.

Sweet. The way you made it sound was the only thing holding it together was the rust. When I saw it, ... um where's the rot? Inside maybe. Nope not there either. That little bitty bit of rust is all of 2 inches wide by 5 inches long. Cut that sucker 3x8 and slap a new piece on there!!

I was imagining ... who's video was it where they basically reskinned the bus from the floor up? The dude from Canada that doesn't post any more maybe? Can't remember if it was him or someone else.

There have actually been at least a few northern folks not willing to travel for their bus who have had to rebuild the entire bus. They more or less "restore" the bus the way one would a classic car that's been rusted to smithereens.

Door is looking much better these days. Spent the day sanding the rear bumper, putting on the wheel arch trim, sanding, sanding, priming, and sanding. 9 hours of it today.

I can probably get some stuff done on your bus if you're in the area!

I'm a dude from Canada who stripped off all of the bus skin! Didn't make a video, though.. Not that I remember.

I removed the skin so that I could get to the straight pieces of the rib for a roof raise. Thomas slants the windows in a bit so extending at the window openings would require some flexing.

Taking the skin off was easy enough :) Of course, it took longer to put back together than expected. It turned out to be a good way to fix the rust around the wheel. Not that I'd recommend it as THE way to fix wheel well rust, but I had it all apart anyhow.

That shorty is looking good EB. I hope you keep it :)

tobeamiss 10-31-2017 04:26 AM

You do good work CB... That looks fantastic. I can't wait to get back to my bumper. I got a bit of rust on it myself. I put all body work aside to work on the inside :)
