Roll Another One
:wink1: We couldn't actually go without having a bus, and I've been high bidder on a NICE shorty. Well- we won the auction, so now we're finally going to have ourselves a shorty with a 466 AND an Allison 2000. 215hp DT with lockup, OD, and AC!
Looks to be a solid, rust free Texas bus. https://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/au...ew?auc=1965279 Its the most I've ever spent purchasing a bus, but I was willing to pay for this setup. A bus like this would, IMO, probably sell for 7500 or more on CL. If all goes well, we'll be taking this on our honeymoon. |
Best I can do for a pic is this crappy one from PS-

Thanks man.
This is my fourth bus! Its addictive. |
Hell yeah!
Once i get my 18-yr old and 17-yr old into, through college? I want an entire full custom to the owners wishes SKOOLIE conversion shop? Take care and have fun! |
Nice.
There are decent pics on the auction link if anyone wants to see it. |
Congrats on your newest bus!
|
Any one in Houston notice where the bus is? Cleveland Tx. just up the road from Houston. We try a meet and greet, maybe, even at Rehab. Cleveland is where Chris got his (2nd?)bus, and I assume they keep em up pretty well.
Congrats Sunshine |
very nice, is it going to skooliepalooza.? & Are we going to see a unique roof rise on this little one.? it looks fairly tall.
|
Nice bus! It'll get right down the road with that drivetrain in a shorty.
|
Nice score. I looked at that one but didn't bid because it didn't look tall enough and a shorty isn't, well, long enough for us.
When I saw your recent post saying you'd sold both of your buses, I was like "yeah right, that won't last long"... and I don't even know you. I would warn you though... that town is in the Houston area, and we all know what happened to them this year. Hopefully the bus isn't a flood vehicle. |

I'm super excited about this! |
Cleveland is "just up the road" from Houston. I think we need to show ECCB a little Texas hospitality.
How about it? You have time for it EC? |
I hope so!
The logistics of bus retrieval are a bit stressful, as you never really know you're going to win. I'm wiring them the money tues or weds and then I have 5 business days to get it. |
that would be a Fun bus ride from Houston to florida!!!

Trying now to figure out how to do this. I guess I could rent a car and then drive the bus back, but I'm busy this week making some last minute preparations on RYO for its new owner and Roxy can't get off any days for the next month.
I really hate airports and flying. Anyone in FL headed to TX? Chris- didn't you get a temp tag online? Hows that work? One thing with these auctions- it can be a bit stressful getting the logistics figured out when you do win. |

TXDMV.GOV - Temporary Permits big thing is having tools in case something dies.. I been wanting to visit the folks in Houston.. txstreetman and I were talking about getting together next weekend to do a tranny swap on his blue-bird.(and id love to visit the houston skoolie folks) I need to figure all that out monday.. when do you need to have the new shorty out of the Texas Depot? so lets think outloud for a few.. I have 2 sets of bus tools.. so I drive to texas, snag your bus from the auction lot.. do my Texas-visiting, then drive it to florida.. leave my tools at your place, fly back to houston from orlando and drive my bus back..(id strill have one set of tools in the bus) next trip to florida I snag my tools from your house? hinges on me making my schedule work this week.. and secondly finding a place in the area to stash my Bus while im taking yours to florida... if my bus doesnt get fixed.. or another option.. I one way car to Texas, snag your bus, drive to florida and fly home.. (assuming one way rentals arent Killer $$. can sometimes get lucky heading north to south in the late fall)... -Christopher |
Craigslist/rideshare is a place to look. Usually lots of folks heading West.

I'll call the contact for the bus and find out what my time frame is for removal. It says I have 5 business days to pay, then 5 days once that clears. But they're usually more flexible if you contact them and let them know your arrangements. If this does work out, you can pick up your rad 80's Miyata road bike we've got waiting for you! |
