Hello from Astoria, Oregon
Well we purchased a bus in Fairfield, Iowa. Rented a pickup from Enterprise, filled with camping gear and tools and headed east. We loaded our gear in the bus, turned in the rental truck, and went south. We stopped in Pawhuska, Ok to see the Pioneer Woman Mercantile, then went to Roswell, NM to see about some aliens. Then off to Tombstone, Az for a tour and a gunfight at the OK corral. We visited Quartzsite and even stopped at the Skooliepalooza on day 2. A few days at our favorite campsite in Parker then on to Kingman, overnight in Zion National Park, then to Salt Lake City, Boise, La Grande, Portland and back to the coast. We drove a total of 5672 miles and of that 3612 were in the bus. The bus is a 2001 international 3800. Dt 466E with the 2000 series trans. This was an ADA bus so only 4 seats to remove. Floor are flat, no wheelwells, 3 AC units plus a wheelchair lift in the rear. Cruise control, air ride suspension, air brakes and it was a Phoenix, Az school bus so zero rust anywhere. We got 11.7 mpg and used less than 1 quart of oil for the trip.
