Barring a dt466e

Any tricks on barring this thing over? I've got all the pistons that are in the up, but need to turn over the crank. My cummins 5.9 had a gear you could insert and crank it over with a socket wrench.

Any way you can get a socket on the harmonic balancer center bolt? Or a strap wrench or chain-wrench around the harmonic balancer, itself.

No socket but maybe a strap wrench. Thanks. I'll look at that. I was also thinking about the u-joint as a possible rotation point. Its in neutral and should move easily enough. I don't know.....

on my DT 360 when i did the trans swap I had to crawl under and use a big screwdriver in the flywheel teeth a couple teeth at a time to turn it over... the inspection hole in the bottom of the housing was a great leverage point for the screwdriver and with a big blade you wont trash the flywheel.

Do this. The dt466 uses multiple small bolts vs one large one to hold the balancer on. I've seen people snap those small bolts barring it over. I've also seen an engine self start by barring it over with a breaker bar. It's a lot less dangerous for you and the machine doing it a few teeth at a time off the flywheel.
