Someone will have to tell those plants that they cannot hang out of the windows when the bus is in motion. LOL

That is a great idea! Now for a drivable one to take to the farmer's market. Or a mobile pot shop for those legal states! Salad bar?

Ronnie 02-26-2019 05:34 PM

That is close to me and I have to go to Richmond tomorrow anyway. Need it like a hole in the head.... but sure is tempting, think it would fit on my trailer

It sure is a unique application. It would sure be fun to make it run.

But would it be street legal with that roof?

I'm fairly certain, even though it's in VA, that my underwriter would say no to this one real fast. I shared it with them just to find out, but it did make me think of a serious question about skylights, which I've also asked about.

It that Tufftex is installed well (and it looks like it is), it can handle the attendant winds of driving speeds. It's really good stuff, and it looks like probably about $300 worth of that alone.

Of course, your insurance agent may not see it that way.

Not something I'd want to own or drive but its legal.
I don't know of any law saying there has to be a roof on the vehicle. At least in the southeast.

Not for sale anymore. Maybe I am crazy but we bought it.

Engine and trans are out. At 545, and 7.3 that is worn out. Basically a core. That is not part of the deal, and not inclined to pursue them.

Buzz Nichols 02-27-2019 11:42 AM

That's a darn nice greenhouse, and your neighbors will love you for it.

Ronnie 02-27-2019 11:46 AM

We live enough in the woods not to worry about it.....

These pics remind me of seeing Pulp Fiction censored for network TV: "Mine's the one that says 'Bad Mellon Farmer!'"

Native 02-27-2019 08:32 PM

Congrats, Ronnie!

I didn't get a chance to see the listing before it was taken down. Care to post a picture, Ronnie?

This is the only picture I have at the moment. Will be picking it up sunday, and will take some more.

What a cool idea! That'd be a nice hangout in the cooler spring and fall days when the sun is shining.. Not so comfortable in the winter or summer, though ;)

What are your plans for it? Just a green house?

Ronnie 02-28-2019 05:47 PM

Long term project. Either a tiny home I could set on a property I go to, or put it back to driveable as an RV. I have my other bus running and roadworthy, so it would have to fill a different need if I put it back on the road. Wonder what the biggest engine would fit in it.... 6V71?

Tiny home makes more sense but not sure if I can put it where I would like to. Need to look into that.

Because the roof is off other then the plastic I have in mind doing a roof raise but more like an old train car with a clerestory roof. One of the antique railroad cars we are restoring has stained glass in the clerestory. That seems like a neat idea. Hmmm more ideas then time right now, but at least get it home to preserve it.

joeblack5 02-28-2019 06:11 PM

Excellent. I love old train car roof design. At some moment I checked out trolley buses.
