Got my floor in!

Iím 6í1Ē so couldnít go with lots of insulation on the floor. I welded 127 holes, painted with rust preventative. Then put 1/2Ē rigid insulation down, and covered with 3/4-7/8Ē oak. Itís rustic, but this is my moving van and home, so will need ruggedness first. Old oak= rugged, and tho not an insulator per se,, itíll retain temps, and Iím not going north...

They are so nice! I'm going to be using Vinyl on mine I'm pretty sure, haven't decided on plank or sheet yet. Might go with sheet vinyl for ease sake. Can't wait to see the rest of your build :D

Where did you get your oak? I was trying to find oak 2x4s (1.5" x 3.5") to use in my floor rebuild because of their greater resistance to bending than pine (about 15%) but oak is so damned expensive and I couldn't find anything thicker than 1" or 1.25".

That’s a nice looking floor

I got a load for free, but had to run through planer/ jointer and that took a while. Not sure where u live, but in VA CP Johnson is a great source. Check local Craigslist , but it’ll require some luck. Good luck!

Also, 3/4” oak is crazy strong and heavy. If you handle a 1.5” thick oak board, you may agree that it’s overkill.

Thanks! This is fun!
