Easy Illinois RV Registration!

Success!
I was able to get Illinois RV plates for my yet-to-be converted skoolie! Our bus is gutted but not converted yet. I went to the main Secretary of State office on the south side of Chicago. I brought the title, the bill of sale, the tax form, and my vehicle insurance forms showing it is insured as a motor home.
I think that was key-for each person who needed to see one of the forms, I handed the stack with the Motor Home insurance paper on top. That set the tone-this is a motor home that needs plates.
I paid my $360 (ouch) for the plates, my title will come in the mail, and that task is done!!
My plan was that if I failed today at that office, I was going to go to the other office that is registering vehicles in the Chicago area. If that failed, I planned on going the route of registering via mail in Vermont.
No one asked for pictures or any other documentation other than the title, tax forms and bill of sale.
Good luck everyone!

Sometimes you get lucky depending on who is at the counter. Is your plate shrink wrapped?

Yes, it is wrapped in plastic, until we put them on the bus tomorrow.
