I know there's at least one post about under floor storage boxes. Although I haven't built any dedicated storage compartments yet, I have built something close. Here's my battery compartment:

Here you can see the finished doors. Behind the second door houses the LP tanks and the hot water heater. These are all completely home-built.

Have you tried using the "Search" feature at the top of the page? I have used this feature many times to find posts & threads for subjects I have needed more information on. You can do as wide or narrow a search as you want, and it provides excellent results. Hope it helps!

Look in car/truck boneyards for used boxes, they can go VERY cheap.

The side box on my truck was $30, two new locks (keyed alike) $20, Rustoleum and sandpaper $15. Total $65. :D

I've seen the nice aluminum side boxes go used for $50 each.
These are the sit-on-the-side-rail boxes, I've also seen those underbody boxes too. Keep a regular eye on your local junk and scrap metal yards, try (find one in your area), or (also one in your area).

Seen two pop-up trailers going for free hereabouts this week. (Boston area)
