I went from the stock 18" down to a 16".......no issues with steering, and affords a lot more room for clutching my 5 speed, plus better sight-lines to my gauges. I have a 24' 3800.

I put a hood scoop on mine, to direct the hot air...

I put a hood scoop on mine, to direct the hot air off the firewall. Made a big difference in the heat coming up through the floor.
