Re: Raising The Roof ~ Questions...
Good to know about Cherry City, chev49. I bought my metal at Farwest Steel, and that was the best price I could find anywhere for 4X10 sheets of cold rolled. I'll have to try them in the future.

Re: Raising The Roof ~ Questions...
I haven't been keeping track of costs, or my time, but I paid $75 a sheet for the metal (4'x10' 20ga). I'm pretty sure I used 4 sheets. I put 10 windows in altogether, 4 on the right side and 6 on...

Re: Raising The Roof ~ Questions...
It's all metal. I took out all the original windows and removed the metal from the outside of all the vertical supports, as well as the metal sills from underneath all the windows. Then I removed...

Re: Raising The Roof ~ Questions...
I raised the roof of my 32 foot Bluebird by 10 inches. I am in Lowell (20 miles east of Eugene), you're welcome to come check it out and I can show you how I did it.

Re: New Project!
Have you actually tried this on a bus? My experience was, the rivet is much harder than the bus, and all it did was tear the rivet out leaving a bigger hole.[/quote]
Yes, I have removed hundreds...

Re: New Project!
Rivet removal? Get a good air chisel and a rivet removal bit for it. It only takes a couple seconds to pop each rivet. I have an old Mac air chisel that is great. Looks like the new ones are $77...

Re: 1989 32' Bluebird conversion
Figured out the problem with the engine today. I got a compression test adapter to screw into the injector holes, and checked all the cylinders. They were all good - 380-420 psi. Then I realized...

Thanks for the info about the turbo, I hadn't thought of that. I wasn't planning on doing it again anyway, but I will look into that if I do.
I am bleeding them where the fuel line connects to...

Re: 1989 32' Bluebird conversion (more pics added!)
I put it in before the turbo. I don't think that that could cause any problem. The water droplets aren't going to speed up any more than the air, and even if they did, the only thing they could...

The R-MAX isn't T&G but it might be available that way. I didn't check.
I got pissed today and tore out the whole door. I'm going to make a regular out-swing door. I'll make it a little higher...

Re: caulk removal
I just did this on mine. I got the bulk of it off with a flat bar and a hammer. Then I just went with a grinder with a 4 1/2" wire wheel to get the rest off. Worked well.

Re: 1989 32' Bluebird conversion

The roof raise should be commencing tomorrow or the next day. I have all the rivets out that need to come out. Having a good Mac air chisel is pretty nice for rivets! Takes 2-3 seconds per rivet. ...
