Re: Windows...

When we did pull them out we found a lot of rust where water had dripped inside down below the window. That was the main reason to pull them out in the first place was to repair the rust and figure...

Re: Windows...

We left all of ours in. To us it seemed like losing the windows would lose the character of the bus. They leak air, but we have a nice wood stove and don't use air conditioning.

When we started...

Re: ShurFlo Pump problem

On your first prime of your supply line, the air in the hose is pumped through until you get all water in your supply line. However, I believe there is air being trapped in your pump's outlet,...

Re: Gustav

I'm getting ready to mount my water tanks. I bought them un-customized and now I'm supposed to add a fittings. I'd like to add a simple barb fitting for a hose and hose clamp. I don't have access...

Re: ShurFlo Pump problem

It may, although I'm not entirely sure what is causing the air to get into the tube in the first place, if it is coming from the pump or from the barrel, or perhaps aeration in the water. When the...

Because of your picture, I don't think this is your problem, but in case anyone else stumbles upon this thread later through searching...

Re: "The Gus" - Darren's 15-passenger E350 Shorty

Watch your cooking times on your microwave. The clock it uses most likely runs on the 60-hertz AC signal provided it, and although the inverter provides an approximated square wave, it may not be at...

Re: Living in denial: Why sensible people reject the truth

Abbott, That is interesting... Is there a source for that data?

I was looking at "Information is Beautiful" the other day (they draw graphics of various things) and they had this data:

Re: How to run Propane Lines?

I'm finally getting ready to start driving around again (been land-locked way too long). So I've been looking at Low Pressure hoses. Something like:

[Low Pressure Gas Hose, 38" MPT x 1/2' Female...

Re: SPAM

I doubt there is anyone even there. Most of this type of spam is performed by scripts which scour the internet in search of a common forum software (like phpBB). Their scripts do the searching,...

Re: How wild is your A/V setup?

I've wondered, is it possible to hook up household speakers to a 12V car audio system, or car speakers to a household amplifier? Also, does household speakers in fact not hold up to the vibrations /...

Re: beginners questions

Welcome, I'll also try to answer your questions. However, a lot depends on how much investment in both time and resources you want to put in, and how long you plan on keeping the bus around.

Re: Any floor insulation advice?

That's what we're doing now. We have a surplus army blanket and a decorative sheet that we use to isolate the entire front of the bus from the cabin. We've been getting lows of 6 degrees under and...

Re: infared heat?

I would second that notion. The best heater you have for driving down the road is your under-seat coolant-based heater. Sure it takes up a little space, but there's a reason why that's the choice...

Re: Caulking windows

We pulled our windows out because when we first got the bus they had leaked quite a bit and we wanted to see what condition they were in. For Gustav, they are held in by four screws and sit on a...

Goes back to this statement. But now I see you were talking about Carbon Monoxide rather than Carbon Dioxide.

So if the wood stove is burning and taking oxygen from the room, that will either be...

Re: Gustav

My last couple of posts was meant to argue that if you are only using a wood stove / burning wood, then you wouldn't have to buy a low oxygen alarm, that a smoke detector would be good enough.

First statement was for most buses, my bus, it is leaky and outside air is sucked into the cabin to replace the air that goes out the chimney. Second statement was for a "theoretical" "leak-proof"...

Re: Gustav

A bus is so leaky that you shouldn't have to worry about depleting the oxygen. We ran our wood stove for a couple of months even with plastic on the windows and there was plenty of oxygen. However,...
