Re: Paint prep

I always scuff the paint with an air palm sander using 320 on the flat areas and hand sand the rails and areas with 320 that it cant get into. I use 220 over any rough spots, painted lettering etc...

Re: Information about the Cat 3208

Rebuilt sleeved parent bore engines are typically not highly desired. It isn't the same as a wet sleeved factory engine.
The 3208 will die a slow death and become more and more rare. Even the 2...

Re: Ford 7.9L Diesel?

Re: Help with bid

As for a replacement engine, 31 series are 13k for a reman longblock compared to a cummins 5.9 from 4000-9000 depending on where you find it.
It is doubtful that you will wear an engine out just...

Re: Windshield Replacement

A glass place can cut it but you may want to check out some bus parts places, they are relatively cheap on flat windshields. Ive used TAC bus parts quite a bit. DOnt have there number handy but do a...

Re: 8.2 Detroit Diesel Questions

Think about the amount of miles you are actually going to put on it. If it runs ok when you get it, chances are it will outlast the bus itself. They arent regarded as good engines but you can pick...

When you say galvanized, is it paint grip or actual straight galvanized metal?
Just scuff the factory finish using 320 grit paper. Just enough to take the shine off, or the oxidation. You only...

Re: 89 Blue Bird 5.9 Gen 1 Cummins, Blown Head gasket

Would the busses be affected by the dowel pin problem? I had thought it was only a problem with the rotary pumps and most busses have the inline?
Another thing everyone with the 5.9 and air brakes...

Re: Roof Pannel Sealant

Ive used both. The 5200 is too difficult to work with and about impossible to clean up. It is more of a dual purpose to adhere and seal which is why it is so sticky. They use it to seal/adhere...

Re: Cost to paint bus...

If you are going over a factory finish dont waste your money on priming the entire bus, especially a cheap laquer primer like duplicolor. It dries fast which could actually cause you more adhesion...
