A mechanic friend use to leave a rag in the bottom of the door and soak it it oil to stop rust. But if you keep the drain holes clear and do regular maintenance your doors should last.

In the past I have fabled up shapes using 2" foam board covered with fiberglass. Just reinforce mounting locations. It can be any shape and can have any coatings.

Switch to hydro-boost because it can supply more brake pressure and you can have a electric backup system when the engine is not running. Hydro-boost operates off the power steering pump not off...
