spark test is just a general test that you can do with your grinder. to learn farmer style, take known steel with high, medium and low carbon and watch the spark length as the amount of carbon will...

one can kinda tell the steel composition with the hardened and spark tests which are easily done.
for other steel, etc use the machanist handbook.. esp the 1940 one like i have for the old...

After one has welded for 46 yrs they don't need long gloves...

Arms just start to rust with all the imbedded steel...

why not just get a spare tire winch off of a pickup and weld that in. the cable would be strong enough. or get a bus spare tire winch... the one in mine is as strong as a boat winch. i scrapped one...

if one is using the original frame, removing the lower portion of the firewall, and fabricating up a tunnel is normal procedure for installing a newer transmission in a vehicle that only came out...

every time i want a custom piece of glass (mostly for street rods) i make an exact template out of 1/8 paneling and fit it to the opening, either with the gasket, or to check space if it is a glue...

you use a glue in toilet flange when you use a 3 inch piece of the flexible spa pvc pipe glued to it and to the black tank flange... i did... did that so i would have a flexible connection betwixxxt...
