Here's a video I just posted on the apparent cause of the electrocution....

Re: RV Electrical Safety

That small voltage difference between the frame of your "grounded" bus and the earth is perfectly normal and expected. In fact, if you were to lengthen the leads of your meter to 100 ft and poke them...

Re: RV Electrical Safety

While at first blush this seems like a good idea, in actuality it will only help ground out any low-current (high resistance) hot-skin leakages. That's because a ground rod driven 8-ft into the dirt...

Re: RV Electrical Safety

Hey, I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid

So yes, you are 100% correct. An RPBG outlet will energize a steel box around it to 120-volts AC with full current capacity (20 or 30 amps). And...

That's because you don't have the luxury of having a test bench that allows you to electrify anything to any voltage potential you like, then test for hot-skin voltages in a bunch of...

Re: RV Electrical Safety

The term "bootleg ground" has been around 40 years that I know of, beginning with upgrades to ungrounded wiring in the 70's. Ideal doesn't acknowledge RPBG's in their product literature because they...

Re: RV Electrical Safety

The confusion is that there's really no such thing as a single "ground" in an RV, more like a bunch of different ground-planes. Every ground-plane (120-volt, and 12-volt) will have its own fault...

Re: RV Electrical Safety

Remember, you MUST NOT bond the neutral bar to the frame ground. I can't see if you have the green bonding screw out of the neutral bar, but the Neutral MUST NOT BE bonded to the frame. The Ground...

Re: RV Electrical Safety

Code requirements call for it being as heavy gauge (or heavier) than the max current draw. So, in theory, a 30-amp shore power connection would only require a 10 gauge bonding wire, while a 50-amp...
