I almost bought a Sawstop some years ago. As well as that blade brake device, it's an excellent saw.

Then a Delta Unisaw with 54" Biesmeyer Fence fell into my lap :)

I'd still keep the blade high for plastic. It keeps it in contact with the material for a shorter time ... but I'm not arguing about it, it's just a view.

You had the blade at the right height for cutting plastic (and plywood). Keeping it high reduces break-out on the rear.

But yes ... guard :)

Generally only ferrous metals "spark" when you cut...
