Here in the north country buses operate almost exclusively with hydraulic brakes. Replacing rusted out hydraulic lines seems to be preferable to dealing with frozen brake components. -20 F is not...

The ones I have heard of having problems are the ones that actually use a large steel pipe to plumb the pressure back. I have never heard of a rubber version, but that most CERTAINLY doesn't mean it...
