To me, a converted bus without insulation needs the build torn out to insulate. I'd rather start fresh, since at least some of the interior paneling and cabinets won't be able to be re-used.

Sitting for years, and in unknown condition. I'd bet against flushing the tank, filling with fresh gas, and crossing the continent!

That sounds realistic, considering that CNG gets about 10-20% worse mileage than gasoline. It won't be anywhere close to the mileage you'd get from a diesel.
