Hello
Folks, My name is Jason &I live in Missouri.
Backstory..
5 years ago I converted a ambulance into a true off grid dwelling and I lived in it for 1.5 years. I’m married now and my Wife wants to experience the mobile lifestyle. Now I’m going to take all that I learned from the ambulance build and apply it to this bus.
I’ll put a few ambulance photos for reference.
Now onto the bus!
We bought the Pig
from a California school district.

Its an 2001 International 3000 177,478 Miles
Engine 530E HEUI 8.7 liter 275 Hp,
Engine Ser. # 530HM2U1253477
Engine Family : YNVXH0530ANA
Transmission : Alison (MD3060)
I just drove it 1700 miles cross country home and it didn’t put a foot wrong. It was perfect.
Goals for this build are as follows:
Timeline 2 years
True 4 season capacity with harsh winters in mind.
Roof raise 12-16 inches
Dual pane insulated rv windows
4” XPS insulation in floor
3” spray foam in walls and ceiling
2-3 skylights
DIY Diesel fired 100k btu hydronic, radiant floor/ potable water/engine heater
4500 watts of tilting solar on roof with custom racking.
2 Victron Quattro in Split phase, 10,000w of total inverting power.
53 KwH of automotive lithium battery bank with custom BMS in 48v configuration
Dual zone mini split heat pump.
All Electrical appliances, induction cook top, oven, small dish washer, small clothes washer. No dryer.
Dickinson marine bulkhead mounted diesel heater for primary heating.
100-200 gallons of fresh and gray water storage.. still calculating this.
Eco dry porcelain composite toilet
We are debating a center galley design vs a L kitchen.
Our plan it to possibly make this a full time rig so I am pulling out all the stops on this build.
Lots more details to come this is just a broad overview of my goals and rough plans for the build.
I’m hear to help and learn so if I can answer any questions please fire away.
