1947 Ford bus value? Look at this piece of junk!

A friend's uncle has this junk pile in his yard, and claims it ran ten years ago.
Someone offered $500 (five hundred US Dollars) for it.
I said GRAB THE MONEY BEFORE THEY SOBER UP!

The uncle wanted $800, and my friend thinks it is worth $1,000.

I said it's worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it. And where are you going to find that other person in your lifetime?

Knowing the body is similar to Tango's, just longer, I'd say grab the money before they sober up!

Its a little rusty but look at that front end... She's a Beauty. For 800 bucks I'd drag it home in a heartbeat just to have it as yard art until I could restore it

Are you kidding me? That is a steal at $800 OR a grand. The front end is all there, solid and most of the rust appears to be surface. But...it does appear to be a Wayne body and they are notorious for rusting through under the rub rails (ask me how I know). Mine had no paint whatsoever under the rails. Not even primer. But even with that consideration, that is still an awesome find that should fetch 3 grand with nothing more than a wash down to remove the mold and clearing out the inside. And being post WWII, the frame will likely accommodate just about any engine/tranny combo you could possibly want and Furd parts are easy to come by. If I weren't so deep into my build, I'd be all over that beauty.

PLEASE...find a loving home for that old girl!

Yes, I figure the front is probably worth more than the whole bus, in that the front may be needed by somebody building a truck.

Three Grand? Not that I doubt you, but what I'm concerned about is... how to find that one fellow in the World who would pay that.

It's in Northern California, near Kelseyville in Lake County. That's 100 miles north of San Francisco. Similarly 100 miles north of Sacramento, and a bit west. (Think of a triangle with San Francisco and Sacramento across the bottom, and Kelseyville at the top, though the left side of the triangle is kind'a straight up.)

About 15 miles from my house.

Bring $3,000 and I'll introduce you.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this.

I saw it myself a week or so ago.

There is NO RUST to speak of!

That edge of the hood that appeared rusted away in the photo... is not! What makes it appear to me to be rust damage... is the very thick paint curling and peeling. (My eyes are as old as the rest of me.)

This relic is actually pretty darn sound, steel-wise.

It has a newer engine -- an overhead valve engine of the 289 type. Delbert says it is an industrial block with extra mounting points. Might even be different cubic inches than the automobile versions. I have not looked into that.

The transmission is probably the original, but it was too muddy to slip under to see.

The rear axle is bolted together in the center, so almost certainly original.

I couldn't tell you anything about the type of engine, except that the valve covers have an unusual angle on top.
