The gentleman we bought our skoolie from completely redid the conversion of a 1973 Crown 40 foot coach in 2001-2002. He and his family crossed and re-crossed the Rockies, the Sierra Nevada and the Cascades. They slept in temperatures below zero as well as endured days above 100. When the skoolie became ours we improved the interior with 100 year old reclaimed hardwood floors, painted the entire inside as well as updates to make it work for a family with multiple children.

We love to cook using the the four burner gas European size stove. There’s space for a full-size household refrigerator, lots of counter space and full-size double sink fed by a Bosch on-demand water heater. You’ll be amazed at the amount of kitchen storage. We cooked 4 meals a day for our family easily in the space provided. Extra storage runs the length of the bus able to fit toys, books and misc home goods. The 32 X 32 shower and Splendide washer/dryer are fed from four 50 gal. stainless water tanks overhead and drain to a 100 gallon stainless black tank and 35 gallon gray tank. A newer 8D start batteries are also maintained by the solar panel to start the 855 cu. In. 250 hp Cummins with a touch of the key. The engine will use about a gallon of oil in 7,000 miles and transmits its ponies to the twin drive axles through a bullet-proof six-speed Allison RT70 transmission. The bathroom features a high quality Sea Land china toilet and a stainless steal bathroom sink. The large closet space will fit a 4 drawer dresser and hanging rack. We fit 4 people’s clothing comfortably in the closet. The genuine hardwood floor, warm wood paneling and propane fireplace add class and coziness to this rolling home. We hope someone else will enjoy it as much as we did over the years of our travels.

Price is $15,000 and will deliver bus up to 500 miles for additional fee.

Mileage on coach is 500k, with newer engine (50k miles) installed by first owner

*Priced with understanding that vehicle with this age and mileage will have wear and some issues, and need money invested to drive and live in full time

Recently replaced: Both front steer tires, ignition switch, starter battery

Things I know will need attention:
-replace 8 rear tires in the near future (10-20 years old)
-gray tank leaks water
-wood floor under driver seat needs to be replaced
-side windows on bus leak when it rains

Oh My. 200 gals of water above the windows?? Where? That high up HAS to create handling issues, even for this fully sprung Tandem. No right side pics, and that (obviously newly created entry?) Door? Well, ..... it is a Crown.

Hey All,
Unfortunately after taking the bus to get serviced, it looks like the rear wheels are having multiple issues. One wheel the brakes are stuck on and it looks like the rest of the rear wheels will need some attention. I feel bad sticking anybody with these issues. The shop made it sound like the labor involved would out price the bus altogether.

Any ideas on what to do with it? Are wheel parts readily accessible for this age of Crown?

Because Crowns are cobbled together from stock semi truck parts (said with admiration, not derision), parts should be available from any heavy truck shop. Beyond bearing and races, I'm not sure what else could be an issue. Even if you need new drums or anything, those should be available.

Where are you located? I missed that, but we may be able to find you a second option for a look at those.

Important note: After servicing the bus, we decided based on recommendations from the shop to list this as a stationary home instead of a traveling one. Because of age and mileage, the bus would be best used if parked somewhere permanently. If you’re local to the Bloomington, IL area we can drive it to you, otherwise the buyer will be responsible for arranging a vehicle delivery service to transport it to wherever you are. Not sure what the cost would be to tow something like this but please look into it before replying.
