Does the concentrated coolant like Rotella ELC need to be diluted? I keep seeing people say 50/50 but the tech specs on the coolant says not to dilute with other coolant or water more than 15%.

I’m changing a bad water pump, so I’m going ahead and flushing out the coolant system and replacing coolant filter on it, just not sure about the whole concentrate or 50/50 thing.

It should be pre diluted already.

Use the Red coolant with no nitrates.

Final Charge: Global and Final Charge: Professional.

One of them has the nitrates, the other doesn't.

I think the Global one is the one to use and can be picked up at any O'Reillys type store.

International still sells their original formula which is basically the same as the Final Charge Global but harder to find.

Nitrate free is better for our older engines.

The concentrate needs dilution.

You are reading the technical data sheet for the 50/50 premix where it says " DO NOT DILUTE THIS PRODUCT BY MORE THAN 15% WITH CONVENTIONAL COOLANTS or water."

I have used the concentrate (NITRITE FREE) where I diluted it to 50/50 using distilled water. If I am on the road and need to refill then I can buy the premix without an issue.

theres been lots of coolant discussions.. I know international poublished engine serial number cutoffs for various coolant types..

AMSoil released an HD coolant a number of years back thats supposed to be compatible with old and new engines and is an ELC.. its been in my red bus for 7 and a half years now.. it came as a concentrate and I used distilled water with it.. I rarely ever add coolant to that bus so the expense of it hasnt been an issue..

Yeah, im hoping this is a one and done situation. OEM water pump and filter were already a lick and then add in a few hundred for coolant. Hurts, but the engine needs love and attention too!

I have a small oil leak from the front of my T444E, but I've not seen any of it drip on the ground yet, not even a drop, so I'm just ignoring it for now lol. If it starts leaking profusely I'll do something about it.

Also the oil is keeping the casting of the engine from rusting ;)

Ok, after much discussing with folks, going to check my oil to make sure the broken water pump was not indicative of other problems, and then swap everything, flush it all out, then load it up with the concentrate stuff with a 50 /50 distilled water dilution.

Thoughts on how much coolant I need to order? I only have my 2 dash front end heaters remaining in the bus. I removed the 2 in the rear.
