2002 Chevy Collins 4 Window Short Bus (Dually) For sale

It saddens me to list something I've worked so hard on but due to some unforeseen career changes, I need to let her go. She is a 2002 Chevy Collins, built on the 3500 Chevy Express van dully chassis with 5.7-liter V8 gas motor. The bus is a shorty 4 windows, only 19 feet, fits in a parking spot perfect! I have put alot into this conversion (My first conversion). It was minimally converted when I purchased it, I spent the last year and half fixing alot of what the previous owner did (Electrical) and getting it to perfect. I had the electrical system professionally redone and added onto to have solar capabilities, ac/dc power inverter, shut offs, switches, and outlets all around the Bus. I also put 6 brand new HTP Discover tires on that all have under 150 miles driven on them. Purchased from discount tire (So they are protected!). Check out @Senorbussenstien on instagram to see his work, he fixed and updated all of the electrical. He does amazing work. Priced to sell, some wiggle room, so shoot me your best offer. Please be willing to pick up, can travel within IL, MO (STL area) if unable to pick up. Registration and title in hand.

The bus has 165,000 miles and has been given a ton of love. The original converter stripped the bus down to the sheet metal, everywhere. The bus was treated for rust and double sealed at every seam.



The previous owners went through an extensive round of preventative maintenance on the mechanics. Then I put new tires on, rotated them, and aligned the Bus.

Prior to my purchase, the previous owners:

– replaced the front breaks. Rotors, calipers, and pads. (This is what I was told, breaks work fine, but dont seem brand new)

-Replaced Fuel Pump

-Replaced Mass airflow sensor

-Replaced fuel injector spider and rebuilt/cleaned intake manifold

-Replaced all spark plugs and spark plug wires

-Installed AC that would have come with the chevy van (we removed the old school bus AC unit)



After stripping the bus down to the bones they rebuilt the bus interior with the following highlights:



-Combined level of insulation that evens out to a 6.5 R-Value around the entire bus.

-1 sealed sunroof

-1 hatch/sunroof to access the bus where the old rooftop emergency exit was located

-The ceiling is lined with aromatic cedar underneath is insulation and all the metal ribs of the bus are studded with wood studs on either side.

-Butcher block countertop

-Lots of overhead cabinet space

-Lockbox over the drivers door

-Liquid nailed and 3/4 inch pressure treated plywood on top of the metal floor

-LifeProof floating floors for the floors with cork in between the floating floors and the 3/4 inch pressure treated plywood.

-They replaced the bus driver chair with a back seat to a transit van. Making it so you can fit two people upfront and also remove the seat easily or turn it around and have extra seating for when the bus is parked. I then found a chevy short bus at a junk yard and took that out. Was debating whether to replace the van seat or not. Have both, will include bus seat if interested.



They also installed an outside bar table that is made out of a piece of cedar and moved the emergency windows to be in front of the kitchen and flipped them sideways so they swing out on their sides and fully open up the kitchen to the outside.



There are a series of appliances already installed or ready to be installed in the bus including:



-Maxx Air fan

-Dometic stovetop

-Deep sink

-25 gall water tank w fill port installed (No city water)

-Water pump and full system with drain. (And outdoor shower)

-Excel vent-free tankless propane water heater, lowpressure start,1/6gmp (Installed under sink, just needs propane hooked up)

–ICECO Fridge (Needs hooked up- pre wired, just plug in)

–Nature’s Head Toilet (Needs installed – pre wired)

-Diesel heater-Diesel Heater 12V 5KW Diesel Air Heater with LCD Monitor,Remote Control,10L Tank Parking Heaters for Trucks,Boat,Touring Car,Bus (Pre wired – just needs installed)





The bus has power everywhere. The bus has a 12 volt system that is directly wired through a fuse box to a 270 AMP Hour battery that charges off the alternator when the bus is running through a Victron 12v to 12v charge isolator. I also added a shore power outlet, so it can be charged that way as well and solar is already hooked up, just needs panels installed. More details below:



-270 AH 8D Battle Born battery is the main house battery for the bus

-Bluetooth Victron Monitor (so you can check out the battery from your phone and see how much is left, consumption, etc)

-Victron 12V to 12V Charge isolators

–Renogy 2000w Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger 12V DC to 120V AC Surge 6000w Off-Grid Solar Inverter Charger for RV Boat Home w/ LCD Display, Auto Trans

–Renogy Rover 40 Amp 12V/24V DC Input MPPT Solar Charge Controller Auto Parameter Adjustable LCD Display Solar Panel Regulator fit for Gel Sealed Flood – have all connects and solar panels ready to install. (two 100 watt panels)

-Breakers between all components – breakers previously were all too small and janky, replaced with high end breakers.

-Pre wired for toilet, heater, and fridge install.

-Water pump switch (installed, currently does have running water)

-Full system shut off (just incase leaving off for long periods of times)

-2 DC fuse boxes that all the power in the bus is connected too.

-2 back side cabin lights

-1 back overhead cabin lights

-1 front cabin light

-Power for appliances like the fridge

-Power for the ignition button on the stove

-Power for track lights,

-Lots of power everywhere to run whatever you want to run.

-Backup Camera



I pretty much have everything else you need to finish the bus. The Bus has a running water system with a 25 gallon fresh water tank in the back of the bus and 5 gallon removable grey tank below the sink. I have a small propane tank that is ready to be installed to power the stove (you could just use green camping tanks) and water heater. Water heater is installed with shut off valves, just needs propane hooked up to have hot water.



The bus is let’s say 85% done and just needs your final touches to be ready to go. I have tons of materials such as wood, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical that I will let go with bus as well if interested. I am not looking to make a profit or get everything back I have put back into this bus, really want it to go to someone that will finish it as I am sadly having to move in a different direction in life quicker than expected. Hello from Texas! I’ve been researching/looking into vans and smaller skoolies for the next phase of my life. Prices are even high for stripped vans!! In doing research, I came across your short bus that seems too good to be true! What’s the catch lol? Kidding, but really…I’m new to this world and curious if it’s the mileage, the year, the fact that you’re really needing to sell?
A little about me… I decided to change careers in my mid 30s and I’ve almost completed graduate school. I’m hoping to downsize and minimize living as I navigate career changes and also make lifestyle changes to enable more adventures and camping.
I‘m interested in your rig and I’m just hoping that you can tell me a little bit more about why it is priced so well. (I saw on a different website that it was priced around 18k, versus the 22 to 25K I’m seeing for stripped Ford transit vans)
