FOR SALE 2005 THOMAS FS65 FREIGHTLINER MID SIZE SCHOOL BUS
MERCEDES MBE900, ALLISON 2500, 160,857mi, 8 WINDOW W/ SIDE DOOR 6'+ISH CIELING
I purchased the bus in Phoenix, AZ in November 2021 at Sierra Gov Auction. It was used as a Scottsdale, AZ Middle School bus. I have the bus registered as an RV in AZ, I have taken it through emissions every November and it passes every time. I also have it insured as an RV, $30 a month.
I have done all the demo on the bus and it is ready to make whatever you like. I have over a hundred hours into the demo, scars and burns, haha. I’ve also de-schoolbused it, so no lights or stop sign ect. The bus runs great, I’ve driven it to my office about 20 miles away often. Top speed is about 75 mph. No cruise control but I’ve been told it can be added.
I bought this for a conversion. It was my perfect bus, if you search for bus building platforms (FS65) you will see this is easy to work on, drive, and park. I have the manual, parts book, wiring schematics, etc. I am recently divorced and moving, I unfortunately don’t have the resources or the time to complete this project.
This could be used for a dozen different purposes. I was using it as mobile storage, but ultimately wanted to make it an RV. I have welded in a door frame that will accept standard size residential doors or you could easily add a custom wood or metal door.
Known issues: The tires appear to be in good shape. I just checked all the pressure and the treads (I was told) have lots of miles left. The battery needs to be replaced, it will start with my jump starter. Ideally (IMO) the battery is changed to a one battery system, it had two for the lift, one should start a 6 cylinder diesel, unless maybe you were somewhere very cold.
Any questions, please ask. I am available to show relatively easily.
