A rare short bus with rear engine that has eligibility to still be used as a school bus!

99580 miles. About 7000 hours, 2500 idle.

Cummins 6.7 220hp engine, Allison 2500 PTS transmission. The engine has the particulate filter (DPF) but does not have DEF exhaust fluid. (For off-road use)...This engine can have the DPF/EGR delete and increase in HP. Sixth gear could also be unlocked.

It's in great shape. I bought it here in Tennessee and here it has two more years of regular service eligibility and at least three more years of extended use after that (depends on how long the route is). Basically, this bus could pass inspection and be used as a regular school bus for at least five more years. Pretty rare to find a bus that can still pass inspections! As a recently retired school bus contractor I am certain this bus could pass inspection tomorrow if need be.

My wife and I bought it to convert to a skoolie. When we test drove it she thought it rode comfortably well. She has back problems so a smooth riding bus is important to us. However, after driving it home and around the neighborhood the last few weeks I've decided that I'm going to look for a bus with air ride (hopefully on all four wheels). This one rides smoothly but it has springs both front and back. That's why we're selling it. Otherwise, it's perfect for us.

It rode great on the way home from Cleveland, TN. On the interstate I kept it at 65mph indicated but GPS was telling me 70mph. Easily kept up with traffic. Didn't floor it so not sure of top speed. Averaged about 7mpg over 100 miles. Going over Monteagle (a pretty good test of a small mountain) it dropped down to 4th gear at 50mph and maintained it all the way up, even when I backed out of the throttle some. Passed about seven semitrucks and none came close to passing me! So, a pretty strong engine.

The chassis and bodywork is in great shape. Minimal rust, mostly in the engine compartment. The contractor I bought it from obviously took good care of it. The interior was spotless when I bought it. He told me there is a leak somewhere in the oil coolant system for the fan motor (pump). Could be at a connection or a seal of the fan. It's a slow leak, so something to be taken care of at some point. It could be in the radiator but my mechanic doesn't seem to think so.

Has the high roof with tall windows.

Haven't really started converting it. Other than some lettering I've removed, all the functional parts like stop sign, safety mirrors etc., are all there.

With it being a shorter RE bus, late model, low miles I think $6500 is a fair and firm price. I've listed it here first but tomorrow will put it on other sites to see if I get any bites.

Tires are all in great shape even though the picture of the underside makes the rear tires look like they don't have much tread...

It's also a tight bus with none of the creaks and groans that come with older buses. Nice and quiet going down the road.
