Thanks Christopher...been going at it around the clock and still a ways to go. So glad you were able to drop in and hope you enjoyed the music. Come back anytime!

This is just the rebar frame and seat posts.

You, sir, are an artiste extraordinaire.....but I'd have to be REALLY drunk before I sat on one of those.

I hope to get over there and see your work and your bus in person someday.

Bring it! I am there most evenings and will be working on this little project for probably another month. Just ask for Donald. They know me...all too well.

'bout time you showed some pics! Probably ought to leave those seat posts exactly as they are--just imagine how much beer it would take before a patron toppled off one of those stools. Just trying to help and get your arse back working on the bus. Sure wish you had taken me up on the deal next door a couple of years ago. The "new" owners have a pack of yipping chihuahuas that are driving me NUTS! :furious: Jack

Many thanks for the kind words all --- Hey Jack...there is good reason those little @#$!%'s are called "Drop Kick Chihuahuas". And...they also top the canine list as the number one biters! I'll take a Pit Bull any day.

Tango, I'll stick with multiple nips from the nasty little Chihuahuas over the bone breaking my hand got when some Lester Low Crotch sicked his Pit Bull on me at work one day.:furious: Jack

Is this art peice going to be an addition to the bar.?
I also have problems with the neigborhood terroist cheewawaa. little mothersucker keeps trying to steel my ride.

Been a while...

I have been slaving away on the most recent sculpture project and only had a few minutes here and there to get any bus things done. But...
...I did manage to get most of my overhead gauge panel/defroster system welded up.

From the front...

From the rear.

This was one of the more challenging welding tasks I have taken on. Only the front lip is bent. Everything else was cut (with grinder) and welded. Still need to fab the access cover and hinge that will close it up but, at least I did make a little progress.

Have I mentioned what a RIPTA working with compound curves can be?

wow!!! you nailed that!! Love it.. just the fitting of that piece to the ever-changing shape of that front header is tough enough let alone welding it all together!

Well Howdy --- been a while since I got anything done on the bus and will be a couple of more weeks before I can even visit her again. Too danged much on my plate!

But...I have gotten a few small things done...

After much ado, I finally got the doghouse and frame together only to have the powder coating company lose it for a couple of days...then apply the wrong finish. Was supposed to be silver Hammerite but they sprayed it with plain silver. I'm having them re-do the cover. The frame (above) won't be seen very often.

And thanks to someone here (Please...feel free to remind me who) I am re-thinking my E-Brake handle. Will very likely go with this MilSpec surplus goodie I got online for $8 bucks.

And a woodworker/gunsmith friend put together this little maple front drawer I designed to fit under my pilot seat. Gotta use every square inch in a Shorty.

It features a gen-U-ine art deco pull with a push-button catch. Found a bunch of new old stock on Ebay some time back and bought enough to outfit all the other drawers and such as well.

And finally...

I don't know about the rest of you, but it seems I can never get enough light where I need it when welding ( I have spent a lot of time under this beastie). So I finally attached a hi intensity LED to my helmet...

Makes a WORLD of difference.

Would have done this years ago but only recently found a unit that would work and put out enough light.

BTW...just discovered a place called Interstate Bus Sales that has a bunch of used bus parts. Sounded like a lot of everything but I will check it out in a couple of weeks. Said he had a bunch of engines including some Cummins 8.3's

Will post what I discover.

All for now. Off to teach some sculpting classes, then I need to get back on this thing full force.

ONWARD!
