As noted in many sources, if you have some problems with the engine behaving badly (would not start, stalls after few seconds, not enough power, sudden shut off, hesitation, slow engine shutdown after "ignition" key is off, etc) - CHECK Fuel Shut-off solenoid FIRST before you start messing with engine's fuel system.

FSS is only electrical part (beside the starter to start the engine) which will prevent this engine with mechanical P7100 high pressure pump from running.

This was the case with my engine - it was stalling after running 2-10 seconds after start (it was running just fine last time). The main cause is sticky solenoid actuator (I had to push it in to engage and keep it engaged).

Another problem is that this solenoid has 2 coils (activating and holding).
- Activating coil is used to engage solenoid during engine start

- Holding coil is used when engine is running
If voltage is low for some reason or solenoid has mechanical problems - it will affect solenoid actuator's arm movement and create problem.

Now is the question:
HOW TO REMOVE actuator arm's head which goes to a link?

P.S. Sorry, I was unable to attach picture at this time - it just opens another main page window when I click "Manage attachments"

Picture of FSS actuator arm's head I need to remove from the link (to be able to remove solenoid).
What holds it there? Is it just snap-on connection?

i got rid of mine and put in an old school shut off cable - $15 from napa.

sometimes there is a knob to twist or pull, but it looks like that one will just pop off with a screw driver.

dont force it. if it resists, there is another locking mechanism.

you might have to unbolt the little zerk part from the arm bracket
