A winters day after day after day after.........sloppy - It looks like I brought a little of Wyoming winter weather to Oklahoma this year and more snow is coming. Big chunks of ice and snow have been sliding off the roof all day. Maybe tomorrow I`ll vent the Incinolet through the roof.

I`m closing on a house tomorrow. It is time to empty the ash pan. I do have some numbers related to costs, gasoline power generator is the most expensive way to go. But has the cheapest buy in. More to follow.

The doors to the incinerator stuck open today and a cycle had already started. It's back together now, glad I hadn't sealed the elbow to the commode yet. Now that I went through that little experience and there's no odor with it set up the way it is, I guess I'll just leave it that way. Still don't know for sure why the doors hung open but I gave everything that look like it moved a good shot of silicone and is working fine now. Emptied a week's worth of ashes out, pretty painless no odor.
Yes it is expensive and you have to use their bowl liners which cost about 40 bucks for 200. There probably is an alternative to their bowl liners and at the high end of the scale is paying for the gasoline to run a generator when it's on the road. Not having to carry blackwater or any of its related plumbing and not having to look for a dump station, is what appeals to me most. I had it in use a couple years ago, out in Quartzsite Arizona and it would make a 5000 watt generator work pretty hard to keep up with the electrical demand but now I have a 8000 Watt generator with a 13,500 Watt peak, that's more than adequate to the task. I would like to convert the generator to propane or natural gas.

The cycle is a little over an hour and yes it can be used during a cycle although today the bowl bay doors stuck open. I checked the thermostat and it is set at 1100 degrees. Seams like a little over kill there.

Thank you for that post. I never heard of that product till I read your post. Sounds like a great way to go besides the high electrical need. I have a few questions hopefully you can answer. Because the inside heats up to near 1200 degrees is the outside still cool to the touch? it would seem to me that unless there is a lot of insulation the metal would heat up too. Also does the vent stack heat up a lot too? What are the electrical needs for that puppy, I noticed that your 5k watt generator was having a problem keeping up.
This is defiantly an easier (not cheaper) way to go, then having to run plumbing and tanks. My only concern is heat and electrical need. And would limit one to the use of shore power or generator. Although it could probably be run off a large battery bank and an inverter but doubt they would last to long maybe a cycle or two if that. And that wouldn't be good if the batteries died during a cycle. :shock:

They are well designed for keeping a cool exterior and no significant heating from the pipe to the ceiling. But hey typical of the Internet I googled incenolet and got a youtube video of one being used- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T1NrnoW ... re=related

When the doors stuck open on mine the paper product dropped into that 1200 degree inferno and immediately burst into flame, so for about two seconds I had a fair size fireball waist high right in front of me for two seconds. Something to consider when finishing the inside of the area where the toilet is going to be, nonflammable materials are recommended.
What odor there is is easily taking care of by a couple squirts of fabreeze and indeed it is an unusual smell. But not the first time I had smelled burning fecal matter.
In Vietnam in 1967 we had outhouses that usually were at least a four or six holer not a lot unlike Smittys set up and underneath was a 55 gal. drum ,cut down to about 20 in. and everyday and old Vietnamese man that had been hired by the US government to bring diesel in and burned all the fecal matter. Now that I remember that particular moment in Vietnam so many years ago it occurs to me that the world hasn't just gone crazy this last 10 years, it's been coming on for a long time I think.

I wouldn't call the incinerator high maintenance because it's so easy to disassemble and clean, the doors not closing is the only problem I had and this is the second time. When I googled the incinerator, there were a lot of alternatives.
