Just thought I'd share this in case any one else with a similar bus is looking for a trailer hitch.

I installed a curt 15302 class v hitch on my bus today and seems to fit pretty well. I wish I didn't have quite a much drop but other than that no complaints. It even lined up with two holes that were already in the frame so only had to drill 4.

Bus is a rear engine 1991 Thomas saf-t-liner.

I think you want the drop for most things you will haul... though they make drop hitch receivers.. but that drop seems reaosnable so you dont have so much a tenendancy for trailer sway..

Yes, keep the hitch as snug to the bumper as possible and achieve any additional necessary drop with the ball. This way when you're not towing you're also not 'bottoming out', or dragging the frame every time the back end dips.

I just picked up a 1998 Thomas SafTLiner...this is a great piece of info here, as I need a hitch setup for sure. Thought I was going to have to fabricate.

Are you going to tow your car?

If you do,,I would love to know how you'd do the wiring for the female end for lights. I already have the male end on my jeep.

peace,

Mert

What is the span of the hitch?

what is the width of this particular hitch? I’m trying to figure out if it’ll fit a 2000 Blue Bird CV200 45ft front engine.
