Hey everyone,

I'm headed to check out, and hopefully buy a bus this weekend!

Not sure if this is the right place but was hoping for some opinions and feedback on it.

its a 2000 international am tran, with 200K miles, flat nose, rear engine. two side access doors and under storage on one side. new tires and clean/ litte wear from the pics at least.

The seller says its a 5.9L but i got the VIN from them and i called 2 dealers/service centers and they both claim its a t444e 7.3L with the allison MT643. So i'm going to have to check in person.

They are asking $2,300 for it, bought it at an auction almost a year ago to use for their business and decided it was too big. They don't have any service records, but it did pass emissions test in 2015.

I'm wondering if you guys think this all sounds reasonable if everything checks out? and is it possible for it to be a 5.9 not a 7.3?
other then that anything specific to watch out for? :Thanx:

A 2000 AmTran is NOT going to have a 5.9.
444 with a 643 is a decent combo.
They're not asking a ton for it, I'd go get a look and take cash. "asking" means they're negotiable. Pull out twenty crisp one hundred dollar bills and you probably can get it, if you do decide you want it.

Check it for everything you would on a used car. Tires and rust are big ones as the expense for tires is high and so is the extra work with rust. Since you are buying from an individual take it for a spin and try to hit some hills with it. You may find that the 444 doesn’t have enough power for your needs but with the 643 it should get you where you need to go.

$2,300 is not a bad price for a used bus.

Look for major rust, check oil and now days look for signs of flood damage.
