Adding reflective tape?

We're planning on painting our bus Ford Blue below the windows and white from there on up.

I like the safety aspect of the reflective tape (much as I groused removing it), and am considering adding a white strip in the middle of the blue using this stuff. Here's a quick Photoshop of how I think I want it to look:

Thoughts? Any advice on applying it, or cautionary tales I need to hear?

I'm a fan of the 3M Scotchlite reflective tape. I've been putting it on my vehicles for a decade and I recommend it to anyone looking to be more visible.

Just for the record...(and anyone with black bumpers)...3M now has a BLACK high reflectivity tape. Very cool stuff.

They have it in many colors - have for a while.

We used to have a dark green jeep... We had paw prints cut out of the black reflective vinyl and put them all over it.

Looked like black paw prints during the day, and reflected bright white when lights hit them at night!!

Wish I knew where the pictures were I had of the setup....

I like it - I added some green reflective tape to my Emergency Windows - but didn't do the entire side. But after looking at the picture you posted - I may add green down the sides of my bus!

Well, I guess that answers my question. Was wondering if there was a green. My bus will be dark green and almond.

"Chicken lights"??? I assume you mean running lights but why are they named chicken lights? Don't think I've heard that term before.

There is speculation as to how/when/where the term originated. Some say the old Perdue trucks had EXTRA lights and they got to calling em "chicken trucks", thus the lights on them would be "chicken lights".
But IDK... I just know they're called that. :wink1:
