Hi,

Been over a year since i last posted here. Been full time 3 years now. It fits me.

So i spent two winters cold. I built a wood stove out of a empty propane tank (dangerous and must he filled with water before cutting or dilling)
Wood stove is delightful and keeps the bus 80 in 20 weather!

But when nightfall comes.. (Eerie music..)
After the fire goes out, no insulation, about 3 hrs and its freezing cold. So cold that my water glass would freeze. Not just have a frozen top, frozen solid.

So the first cold night of October finds me and i'm just not up for the coming winter, i can't bear sleeping in a snow suit (literally) under 6 comforters. So i been toying with a lot of possible solutions, most outside my stress, comfort, or financial level. So i decided to build a bedroom inside the bus, a Ultra Combo Insulated Bedroom!

And so i did. There is a salvage yard in Petersburg VA and the guy have an acre of rigid foam. 3 4 5 & 6 inch. I sat and tried to decide... Hate to under insulate and regret again.. I began to laugh out loud "I'm going for it!" Bought a truck load of 6" rigid foam.

The floor is two sheets thick ( 1 ft thick ) it was the only way i could really cover the wheel wells and have a flat floor so again i went for it.

Pics should tell the rest. Wish me luck!

Um, could you edit your post to have some simulation of up and down in your photos? One that corresponds to reality and gravity? :ermm:

Thanks. :thumb:

Carytowncat, nice score, how tall are you?
I used to live in a DAF vanHool bus with out insulation. The bed was in the rear and our heads were right under a ceiling beam. In the winter the ceiling had ice on it and in the morning we would wake up from water dripping on out faces. Good ol days.
