All terrain tires on cutaway bus?

Has anyone tried installing all terrain tires of their shorties? Not wanting a crazy lift or anything, just improvement on dirt without compromising road drivability or stability.

Stock size for e350-450 is 225-75-16 E rated


Can i go wider without adding spacers? I want to have bit wider footprint to help in soft dirt or sand (I camp at pismo beach, with a tow rope and a few 4x4 diesel trucks to help if I need it lol)

Anyone get wider tires up front than the rears?

Need to change our all the tires they are dryrotted.

Have you tried airing down? AT tires dig deeper, quicker. It might be possible to go a little wider on the front, but I have doubts about the rear. Shouldn't be hard to find out though.

if need be, you can put spacers between the wheels - low air pressure can help too - and of course, a light touch on the accelerator - 'when you spin your wheels or dig in, you know you've given it too much fuel'

are you still on stock rims or do you already have aftermarket rims ?
pictures would help alot but more info is needed to help give advice?
like what kind of tires you want?
what rims do you have?
need to figure if they will clear the suspension and or frame
will they clear your suspension up front?
even wider tires on the front wont help in the sand once your rear end leaves the pavement in a two wheel drive bus 350/450 whatever.
two wheel drive bus is not a beach traveler on the beach?
just add your own winch to the front and back and plan for a buddy to pull you where you want it and get it out or park it on solid ground.
walk and enjoy whatever you and your friends are into without wasting several hours to get your bus in and out.

Not cheap, when you consider the cost of wheels, too. But there's going to be a big improvement in soft surface traction, and airing down is much more effective. They sure seem to work for cement trucks, delivering the whole 9 yards to a muddy jobsite.

It's at e350 7.3 dually 4 window
Yes i can air down front. In sand.. but in rough rocky terrain like desert, wider tires is better.

Check out Weldtec industries on you tube. They do van lifts called grocery getter lift kit it still 2X4. Also some cutaway motorhomes and a shuttle bus. My 1997 shuttle bus came with lots of clearance for larger tires. I have all terrain tires now and love it. I pull my trailer with side by side and atv's to remote atv parks and haven't gotten stuck since I went to allterrains.

Give Chris at UJoint offroad a call. He can tell you what fits without and with lift. I was going to mount BFG T/A KO2s before doing the 4x4 conversion and he knew immediately how big I could go in the stock chassis. Based on the details I don't remember anymore I decided to get bigger tires after the conversion.

wide wheels so might just stick to stock wheels and standard size copper discoverer at3.

I ran snow tires on all 3 of my one ton dualies and my cube van - without them you can figure on getting stuck on wet grass

I'm running Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner A/T LT245/75R16. SRW Real slight rubbing on the plastic inner fender cover on occasion. Lots of ground clearance . A lot of people ask if it 4X4. 1997 e350 shuttle bus.

**** ya. Yokohama Geolander A/T on stock rims/tire size. Washboard at 40+, limited 4wd roads.
