Am I the only one who can't find NPSM fittings?

Hey Gang,

I have a brand-new Shurflo 182-200 accumulator tank. The supplied fittings leak like nobody's business no matter how tight or loose I tighten the things (followed instructions too). So the next step is finding new fittings. The Pentair website is useless for help by the way.

That said, the accumulator has two male NPSM 1/2" in/outlets. I cannot find NPSM anywhere, just NPT, FIP, MIP, XYZ, etc. I'm looking for a 1/2" female NPSM threaded fittings that have a barb on the other side to attach to a nylon reinforced hose. Actually went physically to a plumbing supply warehouse and they didn't have anything like it.

Short of throwing it out the window, has anyone else had this issue?

One more plumbing issue whilst on my rant here... I am looking also for a shower drain with an extended shank(?) pipe that will go through my 2 inch hole about another 2 inches. So the drain I have stops inside the hole, so there's no way to get a nut and/or clamp up in there. Cutting a larger hole would be extremely difficult in this case. So I'm just looking for a drain setup that has a 4-inch threaded shank. I thought back in the day there was an adapter that had threads on the outside and the inside, but haven't been able to locate one.

did you drop the rubber washers that go in them?
like a water hose gasket.
as far as the drain cup i havent seen an extended shank one but you can use one that you glue the pipe in or a compression style you can tighten from the top side.

Thank you! All the Lowe's/HD's in my area said they had them, but none really did. I did end up finding them at this place, plumbingsupply.com and amazingly, will be here tomorrow!

The internal taper definitely did not seal. At all. I didn't use any sealer/tape/dope either.

I have a note into them too about the drain situation.

Mine did not come with any sort of washer or o-ring. But I did end up finding them online (see my BamaBus reply above if needed for the future).

I did start in with an o-ring, but decided to do another search and finally found them.

For the gluing in of the drain pipe, how would you then secure it to the underside of the bus? I have about 9.2 percent plumbing experience, so not sure about that, or the compression style tightening from above?

Ah, I think I understand what you're saying. So glue/epoxy to the pipe to the drain, put that down in the hole. Cut a hole in some sheet metal, then put that on the under side of the bus, then use the split ring to hold it in place?
