Hello, can anyone tell me if there's a way to flush out my AT545 transmission fluid line without running the engine? Here's what's going on. I drained the fluid, changed the internal filter, reinstalled the pan and added new synthetic fluid to the pan. I then wanted to run the engine to get any old fluid out of the external lines of the transmission but the bus suddenly won't start. I've tried a ton of things to try to determine why it won't start but can't figure it out so I'm going to have to have it towed to a shop. I'd rather finish the transmission work before it goes to the shop if possible. Right now the return line is still disconnected and my next step was to run it to a new cooler I was installing. Such terrible timing for the engine to not want to start. It's some sort of electrical issue. 2001 International 3000 DT466e engine.

2001 dt466e AT545. The batteries are putting out over 12v. The starter can turn the engine when I use the remote start tool. Power comes to the dash and powers lights etc. ignition turns on the dash and lights etc. when I turn the key I get no crank no start. the shifter is in neutral and I've wiggled it. The neutral saftey sensor on the transmission looks fine. I moved it to flat ground to do the transmission work and it wouldn't start that same day. It's been 3 weeks of trying to figure it out with my limited knowledge. No park on my transmission and the starter works fine.

Also, the instrument cluster isn't showing the warn engine light and shows no voltage on that meter. That's the only thing that looks different

Long shot, but try resetting the transmission by putting it in Neutral, then drive, then reverse, then neutral again, letting go and releasing the button each time.

Then try to see if she'll crank.

I'll try anything.! This unfortunately didn't work though. :-(

sounds like an interlock issue.

neutral trans is the most common one, but school buses have many.

some doors need to be locked, sometimes open. like handicap doors.

same with skylights.

also there a can be a sleeping child switch somewhere.

what have you done since the last time it worked? opened the back door?

foot on the brake?

you'll find it!

to answer your question.... not really. theoretically you could find a pump trans flush unit somewhere and transport it back to your location, but just running the engine is easiest.

If you are not getting the warn light check the fuse in the battery box since your ecm may not be getting power. 40 amp I believe. Shouldn't be the trans unless it's actually in gear at the trans or a bad safety switch. There is a way to bypass the safety switch you can find somewhere here, but I don't remember.

I am not a mechanic, let alone a diesel mechanic, that said, the only way that I know to stop a diesel is to shut off the fuel or air. I would start by looking for a {fuel shut off}valve? in the fuel line or kill switch for an electric valve/pump.... maybe with a wire going to the tranny....... to kill the engine in a low trans fluiid situation...just a wild guess.
