Awning Location

So I got an 18' awning to mount to the passenger side, Question is should I mount it forward to cover the entrance door, or midway on the side? Going on an FE.

I see value in option #1 -- cover the entrance door, if you encounter rain/snow often.

I'm with dzl...if your door won't hit the awning when it opens. Do you still have bifold or split doors, or did you change to a single which swings out?

Is it going to be in the way of the door operation?

I have one I've never opened (I don't know how) . It's mounted a few feet back from the entrance. It seems like that would give you a larger "patio" area although a little shade over the entrance might be nice. Be careful your door doesn't snag it

That is pretty funny, I thought I was the first response...we must have been typing at the same time

There would be no interferance with the operation of the door. I can mount the front stay just in front of the long skinny window.

There are rollers available if it does get to close, I've seen them on RV's

Ya, this will work. it will end just in front of the center clearance light, covering the door and 2 windows.

Looks can be deceiving. Remember when I said it would end right near the clearance light? Remember boys and girls, always measure TWICE, cut ONCE. While those upper measurements worked great, it would have put the lower left attachment right in the middle of the storage door. So I moved it back to the only workable location, between the wheels.
The awning material is 17', plenty of coverage. Just waiting on some rail to attach the fabric to the roof.

You could always make a separate awning just for the door. Wouldn't need alot of support. Overlap the main awning.
