Ballpark figure to mount/balance all tires?

Excluding the cost of the tires themselves, around what would we be looking at to replace (remove/mount/balance) all 6 tires on a schoolbus?

You have the tires already? I think the mounting and balancing was included when I bought tires.

Just guessing you are looking at about $50 per tire to remove/mount/balance.

Nope... don't have the tires. Don't have a bus yet! :biggrin: But budgeting, and I know what tires I want, and what I can get them for online, which I assume should save significant cheddar compared to tire shop prices.

$50 isn't as bad as I assumed it would be (then again, I have zero frame of reference). Wonder if it would be more if you're supplying the tires though.

What tires are you considering? I went with Kelly tires and have been happy.

Firestone FS561s for the steers, mainly because I trust the brand & they're a decent price (an applicable to my intended use).

Goodyear G622 RSDs for the drives. We'll be boondocking exclusively, and these are one of the few highway-oriented options that appear to have a tread pattern that would perform adequately in (very mild) offroad conditions.

I'm also considering Bridgestone M724Fs for the steers, as they're also a bit more 'off-roady'.

Always open to suggestions or experienced insight! Thanks!

I went to a shop that serviced the local International dealership.....was charged $30 each to remove/mount (6 tires), and $10 each to balance the steers. $1740 total out-the-door for 6 new 11R22.5s.

That sounds like a great price.

How did you go about finding such a shop? Did you ask the dealership?

Any idea if there would be an upcharge if you didn't buy from them?

I was happy with it.

My cuz works at the dealership, and steered me to the tire guy.

The tire guy said the price would be the same if I had my own tires, but bet me I wouldn't beat his prices by an online search....he was right. Chinese knock-offs, though.....I didn't see a single name-brand among the 250 or so truck tires he had in stock.
