Hi All. I did a basic conversion to hopefully get through the DMV inspection this Friday. Bought the bus two weeks ago so it's been a long two weeks. I think it turned out nice.
Dining area should be complete by Friday. Company name and phone numbers removed from back and sides. (what a pain that was!) I'm working on a composting toilet. We have two 7 gallon jugs under sink with a foot pump which works fine for our needs. I built the bed up high to create more storage. (i may regret that when I get a bit older!) My dog can sleep under there too! A shower will probably be added later. Its all simple but actually works! My wife is sewing her little fingers off making curtains/drapes.
Still some trim/ base board to fit. LED lights replaced the old ones. Not sure what to do with steps yet? We really like the open feel rather than lots of partitions and doors. The bus is only 29' but feels larger. A set of draws will be added next to bed for undies and the likes. Storage under bed will have a small area for hanging some clothes when needed. The rest will have bins for all the other crap! Sorry...stuff.
I found it on Craigslist, Sacramento. It was taken out of service, Probably age and mileage reasons. I would have liked a school bus but had a hard time finding what we wanted locally. Plus I'm impatient! It's a bit boring looking but it works.
Thank you. Yes we bought it two weeks ago yesterday. I took some time off work to get it done and the days were very long and tiring. The seats all came out easily which really helps. Had some rot in the floor but very small amount. I have done a fair bit of remodeling in homes over the years so that really helps too.
Nicely done, you must not have slept at all in those two weeks. I'm on the two year plan, I figured I'd have it done in two years. I've been working on it for three years and I'm right on schedule. I'll have it done in about 2 years.
Thank you. I totally understand! I've been remodeling my house now for at least two years. Thought it would be done in less than a year. Having the bus inspected on Friday has basically given me a kick up the rear! Although I have spent hours today trying to temporarily fix my leaking foot pump for the sink just to get it through the inspection. It needs new bellows and seals but running out of time. Can't wait to get away in the bus for a few days. Just getting time off together is the main problem. I may have to go alone! Do you think the wife will notice the bus missing from the driveway?
