Basic plumbing plan: feedback?

A few suggestions.
On city water in a strainer and PRV pressure reducing valve is highly recommended.
A seperate water feed to fill the tank can be used off of the city water with a hand valve to control it.
Only one check valve on the leaving side of the pump is needed and one on the water heater entering side.
I like to install shutoff/hand valves on both side of each piece of equipment so that what water is in that piece is all that is lost when it has to be worked on.

Yes, that helps. I was thinking about routing a line to fill the tank when hooked up. Good info for the check valves and hand valves. Thanks!

You can probably go a bit 'more simple' by eliminating all check valves and using a three way valve to control city water to tank fill vs house.

The diagram on this page is more complicated than you probably want but may give you some ideas.

Assuming a typical RV Shurflo type pump, a check valve is not needed - it won't allow back-flow.

JD, so you only use the city water hook up to fill the tank, no gravity feed? I assume this is because that isn't filterable on the way in?

Hi Nick - the only inlet to my water system is a hose connection (hose on a reel). A valve determines whether the water goes into the holding tank or pressurizes the system for the house. My first motorhome had a gravity feed type fill system for the holding tank and I found it to be a bit of a nuisance as I only filled from pressurized water. I can imagine some lifestyles would benefit from a gravity fill system but mine is not one of them.
