I have 02 chevy express Thomas, I put in newagm 900 cranking ,I just found the 2nd battery under the bus. I have a drain so I unhooked the 2nd battery just left the one under the hood hooked up, it's showing 14.2 volts on dash guage when started is that OK? New this bus thing. I assume I dnt need the 2nd battery everything I'm using is working fine????? So many wires trying to eliminate it's a work in progress, bus runs drives great only problem was battery dead next morning, hoping unhooking 2nd battery will fix that problem, any ideas and help appreciated!!

The standard van probably came with only one battery (the one under the hood.) In the "bussification" the second battery was probably added to help with the electrical load of all the lights, PA system, etc. (And just as an overall extra kick to make sure it started.)

If it still starts after disconnecting the second battery, then I think you should be fine getting rid of it.
