Everyone already knows, and it shouldn't need to be said but: CHECK THE WATER LEVEL IN YOUR BATTERIES!!!

I just bought a $150 8D battery for my bus. After i took the old one out i checked the water level. It took over 1 gallon to cover the plates! Checking the water level in the battery would have saved me a good deal of $$$

Just thought i'd pass this along

Is that the starter? My starting battery is just a group 27 with something like 750 cca. Granted it gave me some trouble this winter, it seems to do the job ok. According to the Ford stealership that B700 chassis was supposed to have four Group 31's

While we're on the topic of batteries.....

At work I can get 6 volt golf cart batteries for $60 each. I believe they have a 140 minute reserve capacity @ 75 amps @ 80* F. They are Dura Start batteries made by Exide which I know are kind of cheap, but for the price? Should I be looking to Arrowhead battery or does this sound like a decent price for what I'm getting?
