Bluebird all American changes 90s vs 2000s and dash update

I was looking at early 2000s 8.3 3060 models, it seems they all have electronic rotary ip destined to fail, if you ask a farmer... it would be easier to find a mid 90s bus than swap engines or change ip and stand alone trans controller, but I like the newer gauge pod! Ot feels less industrial than the older flat panel.

Has anyone made the swap?

Are there any other major differences in the updated all American or is it mostly an upgrade for marketing purposes?
