Bluebird Cold Weather Package: should I remove and re-insulate?

Just got my 2000 Bluebird All American last week. It has the "all-weather" package. I'd love to not have to remove the interior skins to re-insulate it as it has insulation already.

Why does this seem to be the first go-to for most skoolie conversions? Should I replace the insulation even though I have this "all-weather" package?

If the "all weather" package is the fiberglass batting, then its not really insulating anything. Its just filling space between two metal panels.

Great question. My seller had purchased from the school district it was a big deal. So far all I can see is that I have snow chains and all-weather tires in the back.

I suspect that package is the sanders and auto chains and has nothing to do with the insulation.

Beginning to suspect the same. I don't see much other than the chains and all-weather rear tires.

So why is it that so much effort is put in on replacing the fiberglass with spray-in or various other insulation? Is the stuff that's in there just not good?

There was also an optional "cold start aid" system installed by Bluebird. It would squirt a bit of ether into the intake manifold. My bus has it on the build sheet but for the life of me I can't find it or the tank that presumably needs to be kept full...

the all-weather package here in ohio meant you got the full compliment of heaters.. (believe it or not only a couple are standard on busses).. right-side defrost / door heat.. usually full size rear and mid-ship heater and high output driver heat..



the tires were more aggressive in the rear
the roof was white
the windows were tinted
the roof hatches were designed to be opened as vents as well as emergency escape.
the driver got 2 aux defrosting fans upfront.. (stanbdard was one to blow on the driver not the windshield)..


as far as anyone can tell the insulation was the same.. (talking to a friend who orders new busses for his district)...


if you order A/C at the time the bus is purchased the sheet has "high performance insulating roof ".. thats all it says.. we have no idea what that means...



it may be factory-painted with BUS-KOTE for all we know..
