Boarding up at a campsite

To cover the windows while camping I have blinds on all of the side windows and I cut two pieces of cardboard that cover the windshield. So far I have not figured out a good way to cover up the windows in the school bus door. I have thought about cutting little pieces of cardboard that velcro over them, and I have also thought about just making a fabric wall that divides the area just behind the drivers seat from the rest of the bus so that it could be easily closed and it wouldn't matter if you could see in the windshield or the bus door.



Anyone figure out a good solution for privacy in a school bus.

On my trip to Ca and back I used a long bungi cord and put a curtain right behind the driver seat...worked fine but if you are going to be camped someplace I think you would want to cover the windshield...

I bought a roll of 'Reflectix' insulation. It looks like (probably is) aluminum/polyethylene plastic bubble wrap. Just cut it size and hold it to the door with industrial Velcro from Wallyworld. It works for insulating out the cold and reflecting unwanted sunlight in the summer. After I painted my roof white and reflectix-ed my windows it was almst 20 degrees cooler. Makes life easier for my roof a/c and the genset that runs it. Bonus points - no one can see in, and the stuff is flexible so we just fold it up and toss it in a tote 'til next time.

All i have to do for privacy is take the cover off of the hot tub, the steam from the hot water does the rest.

i immigine the floor of the bus will one day rot out from all of the water that's spilled on it. My guess is that the bus will suffer a mortal wound with either the engine or trans long before i have to worry about replaceing the floor.



The condensation in the bus is really uncool by the way. As long as the cover is on, or the interior of the bus is up to temperature, everything is great. However, if people are playing in the hot tub while driving, it's a full time job keeping the windows cleaned off now that it's winter. I've been considering puting wipers on the inside of the windshield.



I ruined 2 vcr's so far, and i blame that on the condensation too. I need to move south !!!! There aren't nearly as many problems in the summer.

Boarding Up

Hi Folks, On our last Schoolie Conversion we used a roll-up curtain made out of Bamboo stips to cover our front and drivers side windows.

Worked & looked Great too.

We'll do the same on our new conversion 'Latcho Drom'



Were using regular window blinds & curtains for the rest of the bus...and stain glass windows for the back door and 'shower window'

Window inserts for Privacy

We are still working on our bug bus, but my wife made special inserts out of 1/8 inch think poster board cut out to fit inside the window openings, placed heavy clear tape ofer the eges leaving tabs so that one can grip them to get them out of the window, and we use a sunscreen for the windshield of our Shortie.



That was a lot of work, but it made my wife happy to contribute to the cause, and it really works well for privacy and insulation.



I like the idea of using a bungy across the vehicle right past the driver's seat to hang a curtain from. That doesn;t take care of the other windows, but it would be quick and easy for the front. Thanks for the tip!
