i was getting used to my lawn chair but still happy the drivers' seat is back.

i put in the coffee table today.

after a long winter break and a whole lot of traveling in the bus. time to add some pieces!

the bed is a bit shorter than the bus is wide.... i needed to make a head board to snug the mattress up a bit and to manage the cords that pass thru there.

so this is what i came up with:

and the cords:

the back door from the outside looked very hillbilly too.

so that got fixed up with another piece of plywood

and from the inside looks like this:

ready for some more miles

i did have to replace the air compressor on the bus this winter. darn thing wouldnt make enough air to let go on the brakes.
such is life and we're back on the road!

the mechanic was just changing parts and we had to go visit them again. now i have a new air dryer, in addition to the new compressor and air govenor...



on a happy note, i am way too pleased with this last project. some scrap angle iron, a pvc fence post and ....voila..... a shitter pipe holder. :biggrin:

Bookmobile is totally the way to go, IMO. I just couldn't find/afford one when I was looking.

Yeah, after reading some of the older bookmobile builds I think they are the ultimate build, and they usually have a geny and sometimes a toilet. It's a nick nack collector's dream to have all those shelves. Can't you see grandma getting a bookmobile?

Generator needs replacement stator windings. I would like to remove the generator and replace it with a 3500-w inverter generator. But it is very difficult to remove the old generator and I need to modify the wiring of electrical circuit because the new generator is 120 volt not 120/240 Kohler 10kw diesel.

What do you recommend? Repair the stator windings or buy a new 3500-w inverter generator?

What's the smallest 220 generator you can put in there as a replacement? The extra money you spend on the generator would be offset by not having to redo your electrical system.

I'd love an inverter generator but inverter generators only have 120 v no 240 v.

How to wiring an 120 v to the existing 240 load center of the bookmobile?

Unlike RV shore line and generator, bookmobiles use 240 v to plug in. I don't want to change existing circuit.

i would seriously consider taking out the generator, make that space into battery bank, and throw up as many solar panels on the roof as you can afford.

i love my big ass gen because i can power my full size kitchen stove and a pair of A/C units all at the same time. a 3500w would not cut it.

i'm all diesel and electric. if you're going to add another fuel, i'd add propane for a stove/heat.

my electric needs outside the stove and the ac are all 12v, with the exception of my computer, monitor and tv. they run off a 300w inverter. my 400AH battery bank easily handles that as long as i run the generator 6-8 hours a day.

if my gen didnt work, i'd go solar.

the number of hours on your gen is pretty high. double mine and my bookmobile is a '93.


the only 240v appliances my bookmobile came with were 3 crude electric heaters.

The govdeal website is wrong with the generator hour. It said 18465 but actually the generator shows 1846.5

That's just about equal to a year of running eight hours per day. I'm surprised it went bad already.
