I was thinking of putting an air brake compressor in my gas powered welder when I put the rebuilt engine back in it so I will have air to run air tools. I have done it before but with a Ford style air conditioner compressor but they are only good for a few hours before they grenade. There are 2 kinds of compressors to my knowledge: 1)designed and installed directly onto a diesel engine and driven directly from a gear or fuel pump w/o belt; 2) the kind I am interested in.......driven off the front of the motor (gas or diesel) with a belt. Does anyone have an extra one sitting around I could purchase at a reasonable price? Sportyrick

why not just get one off of a old air compressor at the scrap yard, or buy a harbor freight one, or even one off of something like a 5 hp shop compressor... and belt drive that. there should be lots of those around, cause i even have 3 i think that are good and going in the scrap .. cause i bought one from a tire shop which is huge.
