Brake Press?

I'm trying to figure out what the little light on my instrument panel means when it says: Brake Press.

I am assuming that it means brake pressure, but I haven't a clue. I have hydraulic disk brakes on a 1991 International Ward.

Also- does anybody know where I can get a manual on this thing? I just bought it a few weeks back and it has been sitting in my pasture waiting to go somewhere.

How is your power steering working? Your power brake assist is most likely a hydraboost system meaning power steering pressure rather than vacuum (like in a car) is the power source. The lines will run from the pump to the brake booster, down to the steering box, and back to the pump. You should feel a lack of power steering assist if the pump is the problem. Do you hear the electric backup motor running when you apply the brakes with the engine running? How about with the engine off? That needs to be functional or you will get a light. There is also a good chance it is just a failed switch.

If everything is working all right, it could be a stuck relay... I've seen this on the Ford's, can't say about the International. But the Brake Pressure would indicate some kind of problem in the Hydraboost system.

Turns out to be a crappy switch. I bypassed it.

I'm having similar issues with my shorty. I was thinking it may have been a faulty switch (because we've already encountered that elsewhere on the bus) but I did lose power steering assist once. Any other ideas?
